The Beethoven Frieze is a sizeable painting by Austrian symbolist Gustav Klimt that he fashioned especially for the 14th Vienna Secessionist exhibition dedicated to the great composer, held between April and June 1902 at the landmark Secession Building in Vienna.

The frieze measures 34.14m (112ft) wide and stands at a height of 2.15m (7ft 1in) while it weighs no less than a good four tons, drawn on an interpretation of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony by Richard Wagner.

Although initially meant for the exhibition in question, the painting was preserved and nowadays lies on display in the Secession Building, the trademark of Vienna Secession.
