The ‘Lament for Icarus’ is a painting that was fashioned by Herbert James Draper, an English Neoclassicist painter, in 1898 towards the end of a decade that saw him focus mainly on themes from the so-called Greek mythology.

Along with ‘Ulysses and the Sirens,’ it represents the pinnacle of his career and was rewarded the gold medal at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1900.
